    Go for it, but be careful. Your friends will initially freak out. I like the screen idea as long as it doesn't melt. You can also try hanging it higher off the tank then slowly lowering it.

    Another vote for yes! I run 500w, 14000K over my 55 and love it! I didn't really do much for adjustment from PC lights other than reduce the photoperiod to only a few hours a day, then gradually increase back to normal. Currently, I run the right side from 7 am to 7pm and the right from 10 am to 10 pm. Your derasa, SPS and BTA will thank you!

    Since I don't use actinics, I simulate the sun's movement over the water by cycling the times. Basiclly, the sun rises on one side, it's brightest when overhead, then slowly sets on the other. This also allows a longer viewing time of the tank.

    I used to do that too with a pair of 250s I had on my old 135gal. It works great.
