    Hey guys,

I have a 55g tank and I want to start growing some SPS. I think they look REALLY cool!.

I have a 4ft, HETO LED with 2 rows of White LEDs and 1 row Blue LED. Total 37W,

    Is this enough for SPS?

I also have a 1 x T5 light that I can get new bulb for, maybe an actinic instead of white. Would the LED and the 1 x T5 go good enough?

Or I could also buy another HETO LED because they aren't that expensive. Then I would 74W of LED lighting? Would that be good enough?

    Cheers

    Ryan.

Tell us a little more about the LED lights. How many diodes?

Those are only good for accent lighting. They do not produce enough energy to do anything more. You need the diodes to be at least 1W each and preferably 3W each. You will need at minimum a 2 bulb T5HO fixture.

Probably not, I would need a PAR reading to be sure.

Im not an expert but I think those are both on the low side. If you went with the octopus leds I think you would want 3 of them, and if you went with t5ho I would get a fixture with 6 or 8 bulbs in it. Sps need a lot of light for good groth and coloration.
