It is a nice link though it is a little misleading for people like me on a tiered system. Our rates seem to double and quadruple once you cross into certain kWh ranges causing the cost to be much higher than those on this sheet

well if you average over 1000kwh a month your rate will raise up like mine.. so just kinda have to take a guess-estimate on that. I think for me for both my 55g fresh, and 55g reef its probly costing me around $15-20 bucks a month.. I also have crappy T5 and PC ballasts so there probly drawing less than advertised..

Well, my rommate and I now use 350 kWh/permonth now.
With the 120g tank and equipment I described earlier with will add 190kWh to 300 kWh depending on the lights I pick (LED vs MH).

My current bill (no tank) in the tiered system: $45
    Current use + 190kWh LED tank: $106
    Current use + 300kWh MH tank: $152

This is a huge difference! And I no longer think people are crazy when they said their tank costs them ~$150/month in electricity since they included their chiller as well.

I used PG&E's electricity calculator: Understand My Electric Charges

I guess it just matters in what state you live in for power rates.. they do sell a power/surge protector calls kill-a-watt (or something like that)it will give you actual reading on your aquarium stuff.

So it seems I now have a financial excuse to buy LEDs.
I expexcted to buy them in a few years when prices come down but it seems to make sense to buy them now.

Anyone know if the AI modules will grow sps?
