which is an even stronger example that glass tops do not effect the light penetration :)

Look at pie if you cut it into 700 slices and you take 1 slice there are 699 slices left.
If I cut my pie into 7 slices and take one I have 6 slices left.....Who ate more? I did :)

Yes, yes it would. That would still make it 1/7th of one percent.

    (1/7) / 100 = 1/700

However, the site doesn't show those same numbers.

No No 1/7th is greater than 1/700th!

I was thinking that also, just meaning a very, very small loss.

    1/7th is definitely greater than 1/700. It's also much greater than 1/7th of one percent. That's 1 / 7 / 100.

If I took a pizza, and I cut it into 7 blocks, then I took each of the 7 blocks and cut them into 100 slices each, you still got 1 slice out of 700; there's just two separate cuttings instead of one.

This. I think you had the impression I originally said 1/7th, which I did not. I said 1/7th of a percent, which means 1/7/100, which means 1/700.

Ok so here is my pizza pie: 7 pie.jpg
now take your pizza pie and slice it into 700 slices.
    we are both starving.....
I eat 1 slice of my pie and you eat 1 slice of your pie.

whos pizza pie has more pizza? yours...so if the loss of light is 1/700 that is a lot less loss than 1/7th
no need to convert fractions to percentages...

I took my own PAR tests a while back, and the simple removal of the glass on one of my pendants made the PAR go up by a pretty large amount.

Off the top of my head I don't recall the numbers, but it was a lot more than 1. I think it was around 20% lower with the glass, with no other changes. I will have to get my PAR number chart finished and put it up on 3reef.
