    9 yrs. old , and she is not looking good, white haze over eyes and a trail of white stuff coming out of eyes !!! Has not eaten for 3 days, should I put her in my 30 gallon or just watch her die in my 180 with the other fish ???! Taking big long breaths and has a white slime all over her ! Nothing wrong with other fish or water !!!!!! Not swimmimg around tank at all !!!

    Are you sure it couldn't be any type of fungus that attacked her? My LFS had a lion that was supposedly 15 years old.
    I would leave her in the tank she is in now, no need to stress her out any. Let her go in comfort if she really is feeling the effects of old age.

    sounds like a bacterial infection to to me. maybe try melafix

    I would try to get your SG up slightly and work on getting your PO4 down a bit. I still think it's some type of infection though. Tank fish can live a long time.

    I'm going to disagree here, Mike. I'm assuming your SG isn't uncharacteristically low, and your PO4 level didn't spring up very recently.

    If the fish is that old, and you're willing to do anything to keep it alive, then perhaps quarantine it and treat it chemically.

    As others have said, however, it might just be old age. This almost brings up the argument of quality of life such as is the case with people. Healthcare attempts to keep people alive for as long as possible.

    That being said, I've already told my wife: if I'm not bright eyed and bushy tailed, if my eyes have lost that spark--then I have no interest in being artificially sustained.

    Can I use Melafix while all the other fish are in the same tank ?? Food falls right in front of her mouth with no reaction !!!

    yes, melafix is reef safe. its made from tree sap that has antibiotic properties. its got kinda funky smell so take a wiff(not bad just tree sap shouldnt smell like barbeque) lol.
