let's consolidate the 2 hydor slim skim threads and try a new experiment!

Ok Seano and i had the same threads going so let's just do 1!

Theory, Seano and i have better luck with the water level towards the bottom of the logo! Getting decent skimmate! Asheville not so much!

So, my theory was his water is too clean! So I was having great skimmate today, good thick dark foam! So i did a 20% water change even though it was far from time! After about 2 hours, my skimmate went clear with only micro bubbles! So maybe your water is just clean and nothing to skim!? just a theory! Well see what happens! My water level rose slightly too,but doubt enough to matter!

If I'm wrong on any of this, please correct!

 

I will test my nitrates this weekend. Last time I checked they were < 2ppm. But I unplugged my skimmer last night. Lots of micro bubbles just reently...

Doing another water change tonight! Params look cool but my xenia has been reall ticked off today and my chromis is breathing heavy, everything else is fine, just taking a precaution! Bet ya my skimmate goes to Nil!

BTW last nights water change was very minimal! got lazy!

 

My skimmate after a water change does take a day or so to amp back up, but so far so good! Seems to skim well!
