Hello everyone i will be making my own led light's for my 16g saltwater fish tank.

Now when it comes to view angle to me anything more then 60 degree is to much.

I feel if you have a LED like this one
1W WARM WHITE LED WITH STAR HEAT SINK | AllElectronics.com
with a 140 view angle i feel more then half the light will be missing the tank.?

But idk maybe i don't know that view angle is.

and no need to send me links to retailers i know of all of them, just looking for a small answer.

    Thanks for reading,
    Dellyjoe

Depends how high/low you hang the light.

Most optics you see in fixtures list their FWHM angle (full width half maximum - 50% of the light), not their viewing angle (~90% of the light).

I wouldn't imagine a need for anything lower than 90* on shallow tank (120 is probably even fine) with the light only 6" off the waterline.
