ok so.. apparently my sump is leaking out.. According to my mom she filled up the box all the way to the green safety line and it drained almost half of it in 4 hours or so.. ( thats like 8 or so gallons.. maybe a bit more).

I told my mom to unplug the return pump, let the water drain and empty out the sump.

I wont be able to replace it until friday, since thats when my 55G sump and fishroom will be done.. *hopefully*

question is.. how long can my fish and coral be ok without the return pump and mechanical filtration?

i have close to 200 pounds of LR and i will leave all my powerheads on.
Probably wont feed until friday? is that ok?

Your plan sounds fine to me. I have gone a week without a skimmer and did not feed until i got a new skimmer in.

    ok great..

we do have one of those vacuum thingys that suck up the water.. since our carpet got wet as well..

Anyone know if it will stink up the place? or a way to prevent that?

I had a little issue ahile back where I had lost a couple of gallon on the floor and got the carpet all wet. I used towels as best I could to get the bulk and then took a fan and pointed it at it till it was dry. I havent noticed anything. Just dont use a heater on it or anything like that, that could do more harm than good.

If your skimmer is capable of being used as a HOB, then you could run it that way without the sump, if it makes you feel better.

One of the nice things about salt water is that it doesn't cause mildew. Get as much up as you can with a vac, but it shouldn't stink too much.

I had a skimmer on my 20 gallon and it broke and havent used it for about a month with no ill effects.

but a steam cleaner and a wet dry van will help with the water in the carpet
