I have gotten a few suggestions from some folks on this subject but am eager to learn more. I am in the process of putting up a 500 gallon reef! It is a HUMONGOUS sucker. I currently have a bullet 2 skimmer and another skimmer that was purchased for my 100 gallon tank. For now I will probably use both of these until the biolode in the 500 requires and up-grade. Here's the question though! What kind of skimmer do you use on a 500 gallon tank? :p

PLease aski all the questions you want....and give me any suggestions! :-/

Great question! I wish I knew. That's a big tank!

There are a few monsters in the skimmer board that could do it I bet, but I don't know for sure.

Euroreefs have a good rep, their CS8-3 or CS8-4 models are for tanks that big.

Boy that's a lot of money though, is DIY an option?

    Hey Liz!

Great to see you on this board. We are headed for greatness here. I hope you can feel it in the air. ;D

This link will show you to the AquaC EV line. The 2000 model is what you want, and I think is more in your price range than the Deltecs. Here's the link:

And here is a nice pic of the EV line of skimmers:[IMG]

The same capacity pump in EuroReef is going to put you up around the same $$$ amount as the Deltecs. So, I would say that is a no-brainer.

I'll keep looking. If you come up with something you want me to look at, you can find me here!!!

    Peace, Liz [smiley=angel.gif]

    Hey Liz,

Did you and hubby ever decide on a skimmer? If yes, which one? I'd love to see what you are going to use to keep this monster clean. ;D

I second the Aqua-c recommendation. I've used most major brands, and Aqua-C's take the cake. The venturi is the best design i've seen yet, it requires less engergy to activate it. I LOVE MY AQUA-C.
