Kenya coral, Tree coral / (Capnella sp.)

    Type: Cauliflower/Soft coral

    Family: Nephtheidae/Litophytonand

    Origin: Indo Pacific

    Aquarium needs:
The Kenya tree (Capnella sp.) is not a very demanding coral
it is very easy to keep for and also attractive,
it can be kept in nano tanks as well.
Is an excellent choice for the new reef enthusiast.
As it is very hardy type coral, does not require much water flow.
Low to moderate is ideal for it's well being.
There is no need to target feeding it collects
it's nutrients from the water column.
And grows fast under the right conditions.

    Lighting: Medium to high

    Water Quality: Temp (72-78ºF) Salinity (1.023-1.025) PH.(8.1-8.4)

    Temperament: Semi-Aggressive

Supplemental Feeding: Strontium, Iodine and Trace Elements

    Frag Difficulty: Easy

Personal Experience: Very easy to take care of,
it takes good lighting and prefers to be in an area
where there isn't much flow at all, it also gets disturb
easily by fish contact, and with out lights retain water
within it's self to the lights are back on.
If there is something wrong with the parameters
it also let you know by it's behavior

    And present.

Needs to be pruned and maintaned often. Coral warfare happens in the way of "shading"/"overtaking". Easy to keep and neat looking.

Kenya tree's often thought to be newb corals cause they are leather corals. A lot of people misunderstand the HIGH to Medium light demands. In low light conditions they grow like weeds and drop babies left and right. Thats not always a good thing, thats what they do for survival.

Good post though, and I do like them alot.!

I got mine at a fragging workshop. The guy that ran the workshop told me later that if mine isn't dropping babies by now that it isn't healthy. I put mine high on the rock where it gets good light, is that why it isn't dropping babies??? It actually looks great but it isn't spreading like I was told it would (is that a good sign?).

Thanks, I just bought a frag 2 weeks ago--it' almost doubled in size---It's fun to watch it's little cups close up when it gets a small particle of food. I saw this for the first time yesterday---OK, I sometimes sit with a magnifying glass just to see this kind of thing-LOL
