    Japanese tanks are designed that way, to separate the SPS and soft corals...this way, they can target the different colored lights and the intensity of lights to simulate nature. I believe they target bluer colors to the softies which are deeper in the ocean, and more intensity for the SPS. The lights they use are more like spotlights, and they can have over 10 lights on their tanks easily. Japanese tanks are really amazing, but they also pay a premium $$$ in everything they do....a true dedication, and the pictures tell it all.

    I just love the right side of that tank...looks so much like a real reef....just beautiful.

    There sure are a lot of lights. You know what else is wild? Check out some of shapes of the aquariums on that page. You don't see those in the states. Too cool.
