Can I use thick 1/2" thick plexiglass to divide the chambers in my diy sump?
    Thanks

You have to be careful because some plexiglass can expand after immersion in water. If you do go with it make sure it's acrylic. IMO glass is better. My 40 gal sump cracked and I suspect the panels may be the cause. Hope this helps.

It is that acrylic (plexiglass) expands and contracts at different rates than glass at different temperatures. You can do it, but cut the plexiglass a bit small and build up a silicon "cushion" when you silicone in the plexiglass. This gives a bit of a cushion for expansion. Also safer if it's thicker glass and relatively thin acrylic.

Edit: BTW I agree with Robs Reef glass is much better if possible. Even if you use the thin stuff at lowes or HD.

I wouldn't use it. It will be under constant pressure and could bow enough to separate where you silicone it. I used tempered glass.
