Here is a recent video of what he does. Now he was doing this before at the lower part of my clam but today the clam has been kinda opening barely I would say and he nips at the top.

Not sure if this will hurt the clam or not so I thought I would post.

    Thanks.

From my experiences a tang will not eat a clam. that said, next time it is open, look at the mantle area. you should be able to see a light spot where he bit it.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
I believe he is just picking at the clams shell, but the clams will close in response to the stress regardless to if he is actually eating it.

Try some nori at the other end of the tank to keep him busy and wait and watch IMO.

He is being very persistent today and nipping at the shell A LOT. Is there anyway to stop him?

Looks like he is just picking around like all the tangs do. He picked on the side of the shell there.

Looks to me like it is just grazing for algae. I would just watch it closely and try and get a better look at the mantle when the clam opens back up. Hope it's nothing...good luck

He is nipping at the clams mantle I just saw him go for the middle.

What do I do? The fish wasn't doing this before. It also is not attacking the Maxima that is right beside the Deresa.

In that video, he is definitely just eating something off the shell. But I believe you that he's picking at the mantle, as my bristletooth is doing the same thing!! Rawr.
