I've had my toadstool a few months now and it's gone from a deep tan/brownish color to yellow....It still opens and appears to be healthy - was just curious if this is typical or unusual?

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Changing to yellow is a good sign, it might be a Figi Yellow, a very nice Sacrophyton.

Most leathers thrive and do their best under pretty intense lighting and flow. Almost SPS like. My tyree toadstool is right in front of a WP40 and has grown by leaps and bounds since I have had it.....Good score, OFK
