I'm paying big money to have a guy glue two pieces of acrylic end-to-end ie: NOT a 90 degree angle: flat.

He promises for the right $$ he can fix two pieces so that it will be 'virtually undetectable' that they were broken.

    Is this even possible?

+1 to this. Lots of work to do it, but it can be done.

i wouldent say its impossible but i cant count on in being a longterm tank because of the structure sounds like a high risk to me

As long as it braced properly at the top it should be fine. Your seriously under-estimating the power of glue.

It's not really glue, it's solvent that melts the surface of the two pieces together. IF you have a failure, it was due to technique or workmanship, not the glue itself.

To be honest this is for a non aquarium project, structural support will not be an issue. I needed to bond acrylic seamlessly so I naturally went to an aquarium expert.

I can't keep from paying a pro for some of the work but theres more coming up--I could save lots of $$ if I could do it myself. I'm not bad with tools, other types of adhesives. Is the technique for 'true seamless bonding' possible to learn online?
