Hello all. My tank has been going along fine and then recently I've had an out break of hair algae. I recently learned of the need for iodine in a reef system and started adding seachem iodide to the tank (after buying a test for iodine). This started around the same time the algae began. Is it true that the iodine can contribute to the hair algae's growth? If so, what do you do about that(no hair algae, but with iodine)?

I've never heard, read or ever came across how Iodine contributes to the growth and health of hair algae. Nitrates, phosphates can help it thrive, but I've never heard of Iodine helping it. Humm... if it does, it will be new to me. ;D Dont dose if you have nothing in the tank that will use it, i.e. inverts, corals, etc.
