So, at the frag swap this past weekend in the goodie bag was this bottle.

    instant ocean marine stabilizer

However, it's information on the side of the bottle is of no value to me. I did a brief search and didn't find much info. Anyone have a idea of what this is and what it does?

    Thanks!

*edit* I meant to put this in general reef topis

I believe it is like a tap water conditioner much like prime. There really shouldnt be a need for it except in emergencies. I have something like it from MACNA two years ago, its primary use is dust collection.

Its just some snake oil that has vitamins and some sort of PH stabilizer. It is not a tapwater conditioner.

Actually never mind, the product that is like Prime is called Marine Conditioner. This stuff is for keeping ALK and PH stable. I wouldnt use it, your better off with water changes or a 2 part system if your needs are high enough.

Funny you ask, I just picked some up yesterday! It's actually a pH and Alk controller. Here's pics of the bottle:

Eh, like Vinny said, there are alot of snake oil products on the market. I wouldnt really trust it. For the most part, the less you add to your tank the better. I cant vouch for the product as I have never used it though.

Aquarium chemicals should be tested by the FDA and EPA to ensure they fulfill their claims with no harmful side effects. Until then, the vast majority will remain useless at best.
