When I take frags of corals in my tank and put them under our MH's, the corals almost transform. They take on more tightly shaped forms and color up rediculously. Wait till you see the growth you get now.

Thats a huge transition. I love halides and t5's both but Im fairly sold on LEDs now. lol Ill be trying a halide over a portion of my frag system just as an experiment though.

I wanted to do LED's but its not cost effective for me right now im sure with not having to buy bulbs and all its the way to go but the upfront cost is what got me. I wanted the Orphek fixture well with a 75gal you need 2 of them that cost about $1400 so ill wait Im moving everything to a 200gal tank in a few months anyways so we will see how this light works over that.

I know LEDs make the coral look nice, but I'm not sold on it being great for growth. With that said, I couldn't deal with MH in a tank at home with the electric bill going high and possibly needing a chiller, so if it came to a choice, I'd have to go LED, but I still think MH is better.

Your right about the whole chiller thing lol I have a 1/4hp coming in the mail should be here friday with the MH's on and about 6" above my tank the tank temp reachs 82 so my chiller should keep it perfect in there.
