    ...might be a Redneck!

    J/K

    But really,
I"ve noticed that when I let my mass of Chaeto grow real large (and not give and/or trade to the lfs too much or too often),
    that my coral look better,

And my nuisnace Algae dissappears! The sump stays cleaner also.

I"m keeping a big mass from now on I tell ya

Ok, so no one thought that was funny I guess.
I for one don't mind calling myself a redneck sometimes.
Even Rednecks can be logical, caring and kind.

that's was pretty funny Todd. Had me laughing. You remind me of one of my buddies down in Georgia that would say something like that. before I had the biopellets running in my tank. I experienced the same. when I let me macro grow out like crazy in the sump, everything seemed to perk up more in the display. I guess there's no such thing as overkill in filtration.

    That's great Matt!

    My anedoctal evidence is:
that when my chaeto mass gets really large, my corals get a growth spurt, algae/cyano decrease and/or disappear, fish look as good or better, etc. That's when my big 3 stay stable too.

It's of course actually borrowed from an old Jeff Foxworthy line up of his jokes, 'You might be a Redneck if......'

    One of my favorites is:
If you go to family reunions to pick up girls....You might be a redneck!
    and/or
If your most wealthy relative gets a new house, and they call you up to help them take the wheels off of it.....You might be a Redneck!

And, IMHO, the chaeto helps with export- mainly of Phos and Nitrate,
    not so much filtration.
