    They both look like a type of sponge, it is usually a sign that there are nutrients in the system and unless your tank is overrun by them then there is nothing to worry about. I have some in my sump in one of the chambers.

    Looks like a Scypha sponge, Thay are harmless filter feeders

    is that what the hairy little white things are in my tank? sponges?

    They (pineapple sponges) are present in my tank as well. Matter of fact they have started to multiply like rabbits. If they are beneficial to the tank at what point do they become a nuisance and how do you get rid of them?

    Should I leave them be?
