So I was thinking earlier about making a new light system let me know what you think...

Kind of progressive...over an hour or so time span have the light get brighter and brighter(until it's at full power) and at the "end" of the day have it get darker over the same time span. This would be about as close as we can get to the natural sun rise and fall...there might be one already and of so awesome...if not Imma buy a dimmer and an extra timer and go to town

Sounds like a very cool idea...I like your thinking here Makeshift. Not all bulbs and or lichting fixtures will function with a dimmer though. Just an FYI for you before you spend the money on a dimmer. You might want to contact the Co. that makes your light and ask if it works on a dimmer.

If you do LED you should be able to put the dimmer idea to work. You could really take it to the max by using 420NM LED, then 460NM LED and finally daylight LED and have each ramp up and down in succession. Maybe add some red LED for the middle 4 hours of the day.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
There are a couple high end lighting systems like that and also include periods that simulate cloud cover.

IMO corals like periods of change in intensity of light and if you can afford the system or build it, I think it is a great idea.

They already have this with LEDs. I forget which fixture it is, but you can program it to do exactly that.
