ID please

    First one looks like a sponge or hydroid and the second one looks like a macro algae. Sponges are usually good but may not last as your tank matures, hydroids are considered bad and the algae may become a problem but then again may not. The algae will depend on the species. If you can get a good color picture of it and the PM member John Maloney he may be able to ID it for you.

    I'll keep an eye on the macro algae. So far it's just the one. Thanks for the ID.

    It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    The cool thing about uncured LR is that you get a whole host of things.
    Unfortunately most of them will die off in the average aquarium.

    You may end up with some very nice sponges, some small bi-valves, and interesting worms and snails.

    Both unknowns are macro algae. The first photo is definitely not any type of hydroid, I suspect it's a type of kelp.

    Can you shoot a pic under normal lighting? The lighting in the pix is way too blue to really see much more than shape.

    The other choice is wait till it grows a bit so we can see what it looks like beyond "sprouts".
