    Hi! After 10 months up and running, I decided to clean my skimmer compartment. I found all these guys! What are they!

    As for a quick and dirty little answer, they look like Scypha sp. sponges (commonly referred to as pineapple sponge). These are usually harmless little filter feeders. They like it dark and nutrient rich. As your skimmer is dark on the inside and pulls out plenty of nutrients, they tend to thrive really well. More than likely you would have noticed them in other areas of the tank if you had a nutrient or silicate issue. Other than that they are just another addition to your water clarifying crew :)
