so I found an interesting coral in my 25 gallon cube. It came on the rock. At first I thought it was red slime on a skeleton of a stony coral. But looking closer I noticed it looked kind of expanded tissue of an lps. Pictures follow. image.jpg image.jpg

Does it happen to be Florida aquacultured rock? Sure looks like a baby Manicina areolata. The below example is round, but mine have looked more like yours.

I'm sorry I don't know the scientific name but it looks like a maxi mini anemone to me or what gresham posted (forgive me if it's the same term)

No treat like an other LPS, in the Faviid family. Fairly common and very cool in my opinion.

Thank you it was completely unexpected. It's silly but I feel like a new parent that just had a child dumped into their lap with no knowledge of how to take care of it. Most of my experience has been with mushrooms. But I have been researching it and have no intention of losing it. It could be my first foray into stonies
