I bought a valentini puffer with what appears to be ick now. He was good at the store. He was bought on Sunday and i noticed white spots on him yesterday. He eats okay and i have raised my tank temp to 81, above from 79. What else should i do, I do not have a qt tank.

Iv also observed my cleaner shrimp cleaning it. It seems he is trying to pry the parasite off of the puffer

If he is eating well just let it ride.Trying to move it will only stress it even more.

I was also told to dose garlic by mashing it in a garlic press and adding one drop per 10 gallons to the tank

Garlic does nothing to kill the Ich parasite. People sometimes use garlic on the food to keep the fish eating. Never ever heard of someone putting it in the tank water. As long as the fish is eating and getting good nutritious food its immune system should be able to ward off the parasite. I wouldn't panic unless it stops eating. The white spots you see mean the parasite is getting to its final stage.

Vinney I have been feeding the puffer frozen food, he picks at my dry food but spits it out. I think its because my dry food is plant based vs meaty. What meaty dry food should i purchase
