ick came and gone

    a couple of days ago my rabbitfish had what looked liked ick. the next day it was gone. is there something going on? now i do have a dragon goby loving the sand bed cause i do see some of my other fish the same way but only a couple of spots then they are gone. could this be the case?

    Sounds like it could have been a false alarm, but it could also be due to the life cycle of ich. The parasite will only live on the fish for a limited time then it drops off to live in the sand and reproduce. After this it will again attach to the fish.

    There are a lot of parasites and other diseases which are commonly misdiagnosed as ich. If it doesn't come back, i.e. as Mike said just a life cycle phase, then it wasn't ich.
