Id just use liveaquaria.com and go to marine fish then click each fish, and make sure the temperment is peaceful and they are reef safe, selected on the right hand side.

I agree, this is a good place to start, the list is too long for someone to be complete about this in a single post.
I wouldn't trust a single source 100% though, there are a few few they list on liveaquaria as peaceful that have lots of reports of being aggressive, at least with certain tankmates, or fish listed as unsafe for reefs that generally get along fine in most tanks without issues. It's not a black and white issue that some of those listings may lead you to believe.

I would suggest comparing notes with another site like bluezooaquatics or vividaquariums, as well as doing forum searches and checking sites like wetwebmedia.com once you've narrowed down your list that you like and see what other specific information is out there about those fish.

Keep in mind most fish live for several years so making a good selection is very important and is worth the time researching them.

My favorite peaceful/reef safe/smallish fish are the 3" adult sized flasher and fairy wrasses in genuses Paracheilinus and Cirrhilabrus, just watch out for a couple in particular as being potentially aggressive, and be aware some of them lose their color a little bit if they aren't kept as a pair or in a harem.

Here's a few I like & have had personal experience with in my reef tank:

    Royal Gramma
    Cardinals (Banggai or PJ)
    Allen's Damsel (neon damsel)
Dwarf Angels (big 50/50 my flame has been great)
    Blue Hippo
Flame Hawk (but just be careful of your inverts as it grows)
    Six Line Wrasse

hope that helps a bit, there's a ton more.

    Joe

For starters they list Catalina Gobies as a reef fish. They shouldn't be in water over 74 degrees...preferably cooler.
