    Hi guys,

Lately, I decided to get back into the saltwater business. I purchased a 2 year old tank from Craigslist, with fish and everything.

One of the fish inside of it, is supposley a "False Percula Clownfish". Today, I went out and bought another False Percula Clownfish to mix with it. It is much smaller, due to the sex changes thing. Anyways, when I put it in my tank, all of the fish attacked it and kept harrasing it. I left it in there... now the original clownfish doesnt care much about it, but the new clown fish is like on its side near the surface.

Does anyone have any explanation? Could it be the original clownfish I had was a True Percula instead of the False Percula? I have 2 stripped Damsels, 2 Blue Damsels, and now 2 clowns.... let me know what you guys think...

    I'm really worried

It's the Damsel's I'm sure. They are aggressive territorial fish. Sorry about the little clown. If he's floating I doubt he'll make it. :(

When I tap on the glass he swims away.... then comes back to a corner and floats on his side....

God damn, I wish I didn't do this...

+1 , those Humbug/ stripped Damsels are mean as heck
the blues are a bit better

the least of your problems would have been the other clown

    what size tank is it?
you might want to get rid of the pair of black and white Damsels before considering a later clown fish addition IMO

The tiny clownfish is alive and all...it even swims away when I tap on the glass, just comes back to its corner and flops on its side....

    It's only a 25g tank...

Attached are some pictures of the tiny clown.

That's a lot of damsels for such a small tank. I wouldn't be surprised if they are responsible for the clown's injury/stress.

    Well,

I guess we'll just hope for the best... I've never had any trouble with the damsels vs my original clownfish... but we'll see.

Thank you all for your help!

If you can isolate that fish, using one of those breeding net boxes ,
for growing on live bearer young ( its a plastic frame with netting around and they are about 10 - 12 inches by 5 - 6 inches )

that would prevent the other fish getting to it whilst it recovers
the other fish may be satisfied , now they have got it stuck in a corner, but they may on occasion come along and have another go at it

so seperating this fish from them in some way , is what I would do next

Wow, what a great idea...and I happen to have that breeder box from when I used to breed guppies!

Won't the clownfish feel stressed in a small box though?

Stressed in a small box is better than dead in an open tank.
