    Something to look at. I am changing some water in my Bio today and I will run tests for ammonia and check the PH. It is interesting because I mix the salt and add within 15 min. or so. I do not let it sit one day. I am curious to see the readings and I will post them.

    Follow up: After mixing fresh salt water using RO/DI water and Instant Ocean salt, my readings are; Ammonia = 0 and PH = 8.3

    That is good info. I have never tested myself, but in my time on 3reef, I have read several threads where someone was alarmed by reading it and then tested again after a day and it was gone...

    I wonder if (and I'm not going to ;)) I went and dug those threads up and what not, if we could correlate it to a specific salt brand(s)...

    Anyway, from now on, I'll start asking and see if I can maybe narrow this down over time.
