Well my battle with this stuff is going on for about a week now. Its not a huge outbreak by any means but its just enough of these little brown strands getting on corals that irritates them and especially me!! I have been giving my rocks a light turkey basting each day and I'm slowing going to cut my light cycle down by 2 hours. I am pretty much a perfectionist when it comes to my tank and this algae is starting to get under my skin a bit.....

Hey, I'm right there with you. I have had gha for three weeks now.

    What are your params?

    My tank tests show:
    0 nitrates
    0 phosphates
    9 dkh
    450 ppm Calcium
    1600 magnesium

These were confirmed with both salifert and API test kits. Which means that GHA is an almost unstoppable monster.

Not to mention im growing a decent amount of cheato in the fuge, cutting back on feedings and reduced photoperiod of my lights on top of 10% WC's each week. I'm also running a polyfilter.

I've been slowly raising my mag over the past two weeks and plan to get it to 1700, which has worked for some people.

So far, I've seen some die back, but as soon as I think it's going away, it seems to come right back even worse than before.

Just curious, what salt do you use?

Have you considered an Algae Turf Scrubber?

    My params are...

    Nitrates 0
    Phosphates 0
    Calcium 400
    KH 8.2
    Magnesium 1390

Yeah I'm just going to cut back on the lights a bit and feed a little less and see what happens. I usually feed daily becaue my anthias seem to go downhill if I don't.
