Why is everyone so into them? They can be stupid expensive and just sorta sit there. They grow slow and don't have any cool polyp extension. I don't know why do YOU guys like them?

All depends on what kinda coral you wanna keep. Aquascaping, colors, and shapes all play into role...

I for one had the same attitude til recently. Im not huge on chalices. I have a few.

I think some have incredible colors and patters and look awesome when grown to a decent size....however, the pricing for most are WAY above anything that I would/could justify right now. I have one though (it was cheap).

a large colony looks really neat. at night, the polyp extension is pretty cool, IMO.

But they are trendy. I have 1.

I dont get Chalices is a very appropriate title for me
never seen one out here , I only see them on this site or the sponsors links

I have seen some brightly coloured, with incredible patterns on this site
(New Jersey Diesel, is the one that comes to mind 1st)

They would not replace SPS as my current favoured coral species
but I would certainly want one, and will have one if I ever find one here

I thought on the same line until I got a few. Now I have about 100 different chalices. What I like about them is their insane coloration. They won't die during a bad crash. They are pretty hardy actually. They grow to a nice disk shape most of the time. I like the idea of mix and match them in my display tank with my sps and zoanthids.
