I bought 50 pounds of live rock from a friend and some of the pieces were huge. I was not even sure if I wanted rocks that big in my 95 gallon tank as I have already started to pile them and didn't want to tear the tank apart to redo the rock structure but I only paid $45 for 50 pounds and was not letting that deal get by me.

After thinking about it a few days, I finally decided I had a remedy to my problem. Not sure this would work, I took the largest rock which was about 18 inches long and about 8 inches wide and gave Hubby the task of using his sawzall, grinder, whatever, and cutting it in half long ways.

You would not believe all the crabs, worms, and snails (even got 6 Bumble Bee Snails) that ended up on my patio. The inside was hollow and I figured they had probably crawled in as babies. These critters had been living in there for quite some time as they were pretty good size. I scooped them up and distributed them into my 3 salt tanks.

I rinsed the rocks out in the sink. The half pieces of rock really looked nice. One piece was used as a shelf. The other sat longways pointing upward to put my branching frogspawn in. What a great idea. Beautiful decorations and free critters......SCORE::)!

I never thought of that. I am sure they were very happy to be released. I never expected it to be hollow, one of the crabs ran toward me, I thought it was a spider and jumped and screamed.....too funny.

Hubby just shook his head.....oh well.....
