Hi, I want to know how others stop fish from jumping out of an aquarium? I bought a diamond goby last week. I got him home and acclimated him. I put him in the aquarium and he immediatly jumped out into the overflow and got sucked throught the pipe. I fished him out and put him back in. I do not like to use glass tops for the gas exchange and they seem to hold heat and run my temp. up. I went to the HD and bought some egg crate and spent the next hour cutting it to fit tightly with no gaps as to stop it from getting moved easily. I thought I cured the problem. I got home to night and went to feed my fish and to my surprise my goby was on top of the egg crate and looked like a piece of dehydrated beef jerky. does anyone have any suggestions?

    1. don't eat the goby
    2. use smaller eggcrate or screen

Not much you can do unless you want to add a canopy. Or just avoid jumpers. I tried the egg crate as well for a blenny, sucker jumped right through it.

Not its not due to harassment. Gobies are jumpers, that's all there is to it. They can and will jump at some point or another

I haven't done this but i will in the future when I am ready to add fish..................I dont know how big your tank is but you can get a pretty large piece of eggcrate and cut it into 2 pieces or just one large piece........... like a glass top, so you can have a top but its vented and your fish cant get out.........and if you wnat to get in the tank you take one off so you dont have to take your like fixture off or take a huge piece of egg grate off every time............Sounds like it would work lmk what you think..
