I have a fuge, roughly 11 gallons of water, it is 24"x13"x9". Right now it just has about 30# of live rock. From what I've been reading to get a good DSB you need critters in the DSB to disturb the sand to allow the release of nitrogen gas out of the system.

I have added a sponge and some poly fiber to the area in between the baffles as well as made an acrylic cover (to try to keep evaporation to a minimum from the sump, my DT is has a foot print of 24"x24" so I get a lot of evaporation from there).

I was thinking a couple hermit crab as well as some cerith snails, as I've come to discover they tend to burrow themselves in the sand a bit in my DT. Are there better options I should consider?
