How to lower Alkalinity

    Some how my ph is right at about 8.2 to 8.3 and my alkalinity is way too high. My tank has been up and running for about 3 months and i havent seen it go down at all. Any help would be great.

    what is high? in dkh over 14? what is ur ca levels at?

    my calcium levels are only around 350. Ive also had trouble raising it to a normal level. Its really weird imo.

    and yes my alk is about 16

    trying raising ur ca to around 450. when ca goes up alk goes down and vise versa. are you adding n e thing to the water?

    Yeah i dosed kalk to it once but didnt really see any changes and i add iodine every week

    Hey seabeast,

    I really wouldn't use kalk to raise it at this point because it is low ,I would pick up some Kent cal turbo or something similar to get your cal up and see if that brings your alk down.
    Also your adding iodine every week? I hope your testing for it. Dosing iodine can be a dangerous game.

    i agree with R. if youre dosing anything, you best be testing for it aalso.

    My local fish store doesn not have the kent turbo cal. What would be some other brands that you guys would recommend. I have the kent marine liquid calcium, but once again it doesnt look like it raises it much.
