How to get rid of this brown algae ?

    Pretty certain I am getting a good case of brown algae. I have the aquarium light on a timer, and no wildlife, as the tank is still cycling. It seems like this stuff is growing like mad, what can I do exactly to kill it. I unplugged the light.

    Those are diatoms and will go away when the free silicates are used up. No need for light until the cycle is complete and you have light needing organisms in the tank.
