So i've had some tissue issue with one of my new trachs. Not sure if sand irritated it or if something nipped it to get it started but it started and hasn't stopped. I've been watching it for about a week to see if there would be any positive changes but instead the flesh continues to come off from one side and has made it about half way and off around some of the mouth.

I've fed it since and it did eat but last night it only grabbed the mysis and squid but I never saw it pull it to it's mouth. I unfortunately was exhausted and crashed so I never saw what happened with the food.

Since the trach is losing more flesh and the bone has a bit of brown look to it on the far end, i'm going to attempt to frag it. I'm hoping to find what I need to do it today. I bought a dremel last week so I'm going to see if I can find a fine tooth blade for it to attempt to cut it quickly.

If anyone has experience in doing this with trach's, brains, what ever, please fill me in!

Any Advice on this would be appreciated!! Thanks in Advance!!!!

    Wish me luck! :(

Do a dip in ReVive, Coral Rx or Iodine to help slow down the tissue loss. Place it in your refugium to heal also. After you frag dip it again.

Not exactly on the subject of fragging, but did you rule out too much light causing the tissue recession?

You can use tincture of Iodine from a drug store. Use 15 to 20 drops per quart of water. Dip for 10 to 15 minutes. Use tank water.

Question on the dip.. Is this an actual dipping the coral for 10-15min or letting it sit for that amount of time?

Awesome! Both lfs don't carry anything. I'll check out cvs.

Dip as 2in10 said before and after fragging.

    1. Make sure all of the flesh is sucked in.
    2. With a cerated knife, score the bone where you plan on cutting making sure part of the mouth will be in each peice.
    3. Cut the bone slowly. Rushing will damage the flesh even more.
    4. Once you get close to the flesh, flip the coral over and cut the flesh.
    5. The left over bone should be thin enough to break the coral in half. If not, dremel it in half.
    6. After dipping, let the coral heal for a few months.

use a diamond tipped blade for the dremel. If you have access to a wet band saw, that's the best option.

Do I keep the coral in water or can I do this on a cutting board?
    Do I wet the blade?
Anything else really important that I should know that's not mentioned?
