I have been feeding my fish frozen food by just breaking off a chunk of the frozen food and breaking it up in a cup of tank water, then dumping it in the tank. Is there a better way? I am worried that I am adding a lot of unecessary nutrients into the tank by doing this. How do you guys do it?

I do it that way and spot feed certian areas so I know everthing is getting fed. I will also sometimes hold on to the frozen piece and hold it infront of my power head so it thaws and gos into the tank slowly.

    Frozen Food

I take the piece of frozen food and squeeze any juice from it and throw that out so the piece is kinda dry. I do this inside a plastic cup and a plastic knife.

I defrost and rinse all my frozen food before feeding.

    Me too.

I was given to understand there's some nasty stuff in some of the frozen foods so I rinse thoroughly and feed.

chances are, you wont see any real harm unless your overfeeding.

I place mine under the PCs to thaw, turn off one of my Koralias to reduce flow in the area of feeding and feed a little at a time with a plastic knife. I am probably going overboard with the plastic knife thing, but I wasn't sure about the metal thang when I first got into it. Now it is habit. And I bought a bunch of plastic knives.
