The most expensive thing in my tank atm is a redline/skunk cleaner shrimp which cost me $145 AU, and my Flame angel was $135 AU.

I have a wild pair of clowns and they were $50 U.S. ($47 AU) and a Flame for me costs $44 ($42 AU). Do you know if they charge similar amounts in NZ? I know their dollar is weaker. It's a shame they charge y'all so much as you are geographically much closer to where you can catch many species. I guess Fish from the Red Sea are going to increase in price dramatically because of all the civil unrest at the moment.

Its definately not a cheap hobby in Australia. The worst thing is most are caught here and sent to the US, who sell them for far cheaper than here. Which just shows the mark up they have on stock here. Its abit ridiculous.

Im not about NZ to be honest. I definately agree about the red sea.

    The final update:

The clown fish passed away today. He was super struggling so I put him in the sump to chill out cause he was being eaten (only had half a tail and bites out of his fins), then died a few hours later.

I buried him in the back yard :).

    RIP Mr Clown.

Do y'all have sales tax? That is sad. Actually not the only death for a clown. One of mine jumped yesterday afternoon.

As if fish from the Red Sea weren't expensive enough already :p

Yeah we have a sales tax called the GST (Goods and Services Tax), which adds $$$$ but not that kind of mark up.

I feel you man about the clown :-(

Thanks for the support :). If only you could get some sort of fish vet.

My pair is broken :'( I will probably get another soon, but I still do not know what type of clown it was. Will ocellaris and perculas bond? Yeah my local sales tax is 9.5%. Are there a lot of people in Australia that have reef tanks? Man, to buy all those specimen, it almost seems if you had a large enough tank it would be cheaper to buy a boat and collect yourself.
