I just picked up a baby snowflake eel that is about 5 inches long and I'm wondering how often to feed him.

IMO it depends on what your feeding it

many people would feed small items daily
if its larger items such as cut up silversides or peeled prawns etc
I would feed every other day and check the body shape if it always looks like its swallowed a boiled egg, maybe once every 3 days

I fed my 12 live acclimated guppies a week, it was a little too dumb to catch them the first few weeks so I would grab them by the tail and hand feed them. After about 3-4 months I graduated to silversides. I would not feed silversides again however, as they can sometimes give a disease which killed by eel at 2.5 years. If i were you i would vary a diet of uncooked shrimp, scallops, mussels, and squid and he will be happy. Also hand feed him and train him not to bite you. It is so much more fun and they gain a great personality. Plus chicks dig it, ask my wife ;-)
