    I don't per se do water changes. I allow relatively wet skimming and thus replace 10 gallons per week for evaporation and skimming... needing to add a touch of salt for that lost through skimming.

    I have a question for everyone that says they don't do any WC's

    what do you dose? and what do you test for? Also whats in your reef?

    46g BF non-operating skimmer, dont really dose, i have a bunch of shrooms, zoas, GSP, blastos, acan echinata, gorg, two fish i never feed, brittle star about 14" across fully extended, linkia starfish. I never test. 7 years in december

    yeah ill try tomorrow to get a pic up. It aint immaculate in there buts its healthy, both my fish are the first two i put in, an orchid dotty and a clownfish

    I've read alot of info on water changes over the years. All the good studies I've read about state that it is more beneficial to do about a 25% to 30% water change once a month than it is to do smaller ones weekly. I've seen some impressive graphs about this online if your interested in charts and graphs;)

    I dose b-ionic,kalk drip, and have a calcium reactor going...


    I test for all the normal things

    my live stock is about 50 corals and fish are:

    Purple Tang
    Yellow Tang
    Clown Tang
    Pair of clowns
    six line wrasse
    niger trigger

    been thinking im changing too much water of late....params seem to always be on point cept for of late... and ive been change 20 wkly. err other tank ive had ive always done weekly changes with great success

    5% weekly for me, dont think I missed more than 3 water changes in a period of over 2 years and when I missed weeks for holidays etc, I compensated by doing a larger change of about 10% the week later

    having a tank of mainly SPS and a couple of Clams meant I needed to dose the big 3 anyway but it was the other minor and trace elements that I feared might be depleted should I discontinue changing water on a regular basis
