How much to seed

    I have a friend who I can buy live rock from for 2$ a lb. His rock doesn't look any where near as nice as reefcleaners.org does. I plan on buying the 50lb box for my 40 breeder but I am wondering how much live rock I should buy from my friend to seed. Will I get sponges, stars and all that after a while like I would with his live rock?

    There isnt any life on our base rock, it is dry. You would want about 15 pounds to seed if you both a 50 pound box of dry rock.

    until the tank is cycled and algae is present, it is a matter of events occurring, rather than an amount of time.
