    hi all

ive had my water tested at my local fish store and my nitrates were high so they suggested i cut down on feeding.
    i have
    3 clownfish
    1 large regal tang
    1 foxface rabbit
    1 blue damsel
    1 firefish

they said 1 cube of food (shrimp brine or marine mix) is enough per day.
is this enough ?? it dosent seem alot
    thanks for your help.

Thats to much. You are better cutting it in half IMO. Its not like you have alot of fish.

Sounds like the right amount, but how large are these fish? A large regal tank can down one cube on it's own.

How big is your tank? I feed my heavily stocked 55g reef about 1.5-2 cubes every 3 days or so. Fish can go for long stretches without eating, they will eat themselves to death, so they will always seem hungry to you.

Do you rinse your cubes, the water in those frozen cubes is loaded with Phosphate and junk, so rinsing can only help your water quality.

It's not recommended to feed herbivores like that. They need to graze constantly given how their gut works.

True, didn't think about that, don't really have any in my tank so it works for my situation.

now im more confused lol, the regal tang use to polish off half a cube pretty quickly but now i defrost the cube in a shrimp net and it seems to spread it out a bit more evenly?

    I have a 180 gallon tank with

    2x "nemos"
    2x yellow tangs
    1x purple tang
    1x foxface
    2x blue damsels
    1x blue chromis
    1x sunk clown
    1x sixline wrasse
    1x niger trigger
    1x 3 stripe damsel

i have zero nirates or close to it and i feed 2 cubes per day plus a feeding of pellets and i feel thats the perfect amount as none of the food even gets half way down the tank

You can feed all they can eat in 2 miutes. I feed like oceanp pellets and frozen. I weened off frozen to pellets as forzen is nitrate/phosphate full.
