    I kept track of my expenses the first year I started and that ran me about 3 grand +. almost 2 and a half years in and i quit keeping track because it seemed to be more work to know what i was actually spending and taking all the fun out of the hobby. The fun isnt in the expense, it all equals out from the enjoyment i get from making something i enjoy to look at every day.

    Amen to that. I know some BMWCCA club racers drop 50-60 grand a year just to stay competitive.

    $ = SPEED.
    The cost of this SW hobby is what you make of it. Yes you can spend thousands. The more you make the more you spend.
    Would you buy salt? Or would you feed your 3 year old?
    Most of us are responsible enough to keep things in check.

    Life is all about the experiences we have. The way I see it everyone needs to have a hobby, they need to be able to do something that makes them happy. Saltwater may be expensive but when you do it right, it's worth it. When your frustrated and your just spending money and nothing is working out then you may need to find a new hobby.

    I kept track at first. I had to stop. It's a lot, and I agree, this is a VERY addicting hobby!
