so i am currently running a 2.5 gal pico. the only filtration being power head/liverock and water changes. lately i have been doing 8oz change every day just to be safe. If we do the math thats about 75% every month. I have been told by certain sources that this may upset the biological filtration do to microbe loss and not enough recovery time. Have you any thoughts on this???

Not sure what microbes they are referring too. I would maybe do every other day but your tank will tell you. The main thing is to be sure salinity is stable and not to strip too many nutrients but with that fish you should be fine.
