    Since my answer would be outdated in 8 minutes when the day changes, I've been in the hobby doing saltwater since about January 22nd, 2010. Before that, I did FW for years, ending in 2007.

    Fresh water since 1972, but always felt something was missing (later in life I realized what it was- salt). Saltwater since I first saw my brother in law's tanks, way before he was my brother in law, in the mid 90s. I wish I could remember the exact date, but it was love at first sight (the tank, not my brother in law ;) ).

    1 Yr+ started July last yr. Did fresh for 2 yrs and just took me that long to get up the nerve. Was going to do a FOWLR but the rock i got had star polyps on it. So ended up a reef.

    There has been a FW tank in our home for as long as I can remember (over 30 yrs). I got into saltwater FOWLR about 12 yrs back. Got into a reef tanks 3 yrs ago, did a lot of research for about a year, setup my first reef tank 2 yrs ago.

    Thought Id revive this thread. Interesting topic. Ive been in freshwater for about 4 years now. Salt for less than two. Coral fanatic for about a year. Loving every moment of it. :)
