Curious, what are you doing for a sandbed?

I'm running some at 3 - 4 inches and several at 4 - 6 inches. Some are southdown, while others are caribsea special reef grade 0050 aragonite. The fine ones have better life, as far as worms and such. All are doing their job, the best seems to be a fine sand one running at 2 1/2 to 4 1/2 inches deep. It slopes from the overflow corner(rear left) down to the front and other side(right). I've got like 12 brittle stars in that tank (30g w/ 10g sump) of various sizes, alot of them are 4"s across. They really help move the sand around on the surface and they do a hell of a job cleaning up left overs. All of them came as hitch hikers on corals from my work, one of the perc's.

Sloped sand? That sounds cool. I like it.

My other tanks seem to collect detritus under the overflow, so this was one solution. I borrowed it from freshwater planted aquaria experience.

I go with about a 4" sand bed. Originally, it had a "waving" effect, but do to my flow in the tank, it is pretty even now. Oh Well! [IMG]
