if im planning on keeping clams in the furture so i just rule out any thought of getting a dwarf angel for my 46gal reef? or is there a certain breed that are less inclined to nip at clams?

I don't think you are in luck there. Even if there was it is hit or miss with them not doing it.

i would be carful, but if you have several clams and sps corals it would be too much for one dwarf to destroy normally,

i have had a coral beauty in the tank with my teardrop maxima for 6 months and the coral beauty never touched it. I also purchased a queen angel about 3 weeks ago and he doesnt go near the clam either.

i think potters angels are supposed to be the least inclined to nip at clams and corals.
