Help my ammonia is 5. I added ammonia lock into my tank and it wont go down. I read to put my air tubing on my maxi jets because every air bubble gets some ammonia out of my tank. Is that true? My stocking and everything is in my signature. Thanks.
    Here are my other stats:
    Ammonia: 5.0
    Nitrite: 0
    Nitrate: 5
    Salinity: 1.026

dude you have too many fish, and the two tangs are probably gonna outgrow that, so thats ur problem. too much waste=bacteria cant take care of waste fast enough that ammonia starts to come out. do a few water changes to bring it down

Tank has been setup for 6 months. All fish are less than 2 inches. Just added the hippo tang yesterday. Will the maxi jets pushing out air bubble help take out ammonia??

depending on how long it has been set up it sounds like your still in the cycle process if not did you add more than 1 fish at a time? another thing might be tap water are you using ro/di or tapwater? 6 fish in a 55 gallon is way too many but that depends on your skimmer and what not also if you can control the bioload than you could be fine. but the tangs are not good for that tank unless like mine are very small and you plan on taking them back when they get larger.

I guess the bubbles could help, but I'm not sure. Do you have a skimmer? Can you have your LFS hold your fish for you? 5 ppm is pretty high.
