funny how different every tank is. My hermits go after my ceriths and my nass snails. However, i have had the same six turbos for over a year and i have never seen any hermits bother them.

I'm really surprised no one has pointed this out:

Too many hermits in a 75 gal tank. They killed the snails because they were hungry. :)

I keep lots of snails in my tank, and about 35 hermits (125 gal). On a rare occasion, a hermit or two will kill a snail, but I believe both are essential to your CUC.

I wouldn't know first hand, but I've heard blue legged hermits are less aggressive than their red legged cousins. Anyone with experience? I banished my red legs to my fuge because they killed all of my turbos also, but I'm thinking of getting a couple blue legs for the DT because the hermits seem to do a better job with the big stuff on the sandbed. That is, if I can get some confirmation on a less aggressive species of hermit.

I'm putting some of my hermits in the fuge as well.
